Main Purpose of Job

This position supports the communications of the Interagency Commission on School Construction with IAC Members, Local Education Agencies, and other stakeholders, including development and formatting of reports, analysis, and responsibility for website content development and edits.

POSITION DUTIES

This position coordinates and supports the communication activities of the agency. The incumbent must be able to analyze, comprehend, and display complex data to produce simplified informational material for a variety of audiences. The employee gathers data, prepares news articles, designs reports, and develops informational materials for internal and external stakeholders. This position is primarily responsible for the management and content development for the agency website at mdschoolconstruction.org. The position enhances and recommends communication strategies to that agency actions are transparent and creates infographics, charts, tables, publications, presentations, and webinars. The position establishes feedback channels, including surveys and other communication mechanisms, to support public and stakeholder satisfaction and continued improvements. The position contributes to monthly IAC meeting agendas and is primarily responsible for materials and communications to support the Workgroup on the Assessment and Funding of School Facilities and any other short-term workgroups created by the IAC, the Governor, or the General Assembly. The position serves as quality control for all agency material and ensures that agency developed information sources are accurate, efficient, easy to understand, and effective. The position also coordinates special projects as necessary, including one-time ad-hoc information analysis and reporting. The incumbent researches similar State programs and agencies to maintain a working knowledge of policies and practices both in Maryland and nationwide and advises agency leadership on best research practices and best practices for statistical analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a yearfor-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with web development or website content management systems such as WordPress, SharePoint, Drupal, or others.
  • Experience with compiling Data into Adhoc Reports / for Graphs / flow charts

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
