Main Purpose of Job

The main role of the Program Manager I is to provide direct managerial, administrative and technical support for the outreach, development, administration and monitoring of the Cadet registerd apprenticeship program for the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP).  The Program Manager I will supervise and provide direction, technical assistance, advice and guidance to other professional and support staff for the MATP unit as well as Cadet Registered Apprenticeship sponsors throughout the state.  The Program Manager I will assist in the development of programs which directly support the growth of the cadet apprenticeship program.  The Program Manager will work to promote and grow the cadet Registered Apprenticeship and will foster connections of underrepresented populations to the program.

POSITION DUTIES

•Provides management and oversight of the new programs. 

•Will help to ensure smooth operation of administrative office functions to include program reporting, registration of cadet apprenticeship programs, and the monitoring and maintenance of programs and agreements. 

•Provide direct support to the Director of Apprenticeship and Training.

•Will ensure the MATP is expanding with the addition of new apprentices in the cadet registered apprenticeship

•Develop cadet apprenticeship programs by assisting prospective and established sponsors in developing training standards, including on-the-job training and related instruction schedules, affirmative action plans and wage progression schedules. 

•Represent program sponsors before the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council (MATC).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of program management experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years experience creating registered apprenticeship programs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of an unemployment insurance over payment and/or fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
