Main Purpose of Job

This is a contractual position in the field of vocational rehabilitation responsible for conducting vocational evaluations of consumers leading to employment.

POSITION DUTIES

Assesses vocational potential and makes recommendations based upon consumer’s interests, aptitudes, and functional capacities; interprets diagnostic data, including medical, psychological, work sample results, and behavioral observations into a comprehensive report to establish vocational goals; provides vocational counseling; administers, scores, and interprets a variety of tests. This includes the interpretation, analysis and synthesis of testing data presented in a comprehensive, concise written report culminating in recommendations for placement, training or accommodations necessary to assist individuals with disabilities to begin or return to gainful employment. Position also involves case management duties. Serves as member of interdisciplinary team to develop rehabilitation programs for individual consumers; will provide evaluation services for consumers with a variety of disabilities requiring specialized testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  

Possession of a Bachelor's Degree.  

Experience:

Level I - Professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is preferred.  

Level II - Two years of professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is required; a Master's degree in a Behavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.    

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
