This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Engineering & Construction Unit. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Engineering and Construction, is currently accepting applications for the Agency Project Engineer/Architect III position. This position will be under the direction of the Eastern Region Supervisor and will provide construction estimating, design, management, and inspection services necessary for the successful completion of critical maintenance projects. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience, two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer or Architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects and an additional four years of experience as an Engineer or Architect in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture and two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer or Architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service  experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for- year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates will have experience in all types of construction to include, but not limited to: project management, building construction, code compliance, inspection repairs, cost estimating, utility construction and repairs, and site construction and repairs.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees may be required to carry an electronic paging device or provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached.
