LOCATION OF POSITION
POSITION DUTIES
The incumbent in this position will be performing fingerprint services and demographic data collection for non-criminal justice purposes for the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) - Central Repository. They will be responsible for completing Live Scan and Ink Method fingerprinting to make comparisons of the inked and computer image prints; operating the Maryland Automated Fingerprint Identification System (MAFIS) and its components; and performing other related duties as required.
Operates the computerized Live Scan unit to collect electronic fingerprint scans and related demographic data from customers; obtains fingerprints using both ink method and electronic data processing equipment.
Visually screens inked fingerprints to determine whether they are sufficiently legible to facilitate identification and a timely record check.
Maintains and compiles verification of accounting logs, collection of monetary fees, balancing daily receipts and other duties related to funds handling process.
Interacts with CJIS and other State or Local Officials regarding the joint processing of Hazmat applicants and other related issues related to the operation of a CJIS office within an MVA facility or off-site location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience conducting applicant LiveScan fingerprinting for licensing and/or employment.
2. Experience using the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) central repository or the Maryland Automated Fingerprint Identification System (MAFIS).
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Candidates for this classification are subject to a criminal records check before a permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction record may be grounds for rejection of the applicant by the hiring agency.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency a telephone number where they can by reached.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
