POSITION DUTIES

To provide Occupational Therapy services and implement programs for severe and persistently mentally ill patients; functions as a member of the treatment team, participates in the training program for Level I and Level II fieldwork interns and maintains patient records. Supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery-oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.

Some job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 
Administers and interprets assessment/re-assessment of patients' current level of functioning in the following categories of daily living skills; physical, psychological, work, play/leisure, cognitive and psychosocial components. 
Upon an analysis of occupational therapy data, formulates treatment plan, developing goals and modalities to be implemented.
Documents all services provided within departmental guidelines including: evaluation results, progress notes, discharge summaries, OT Tracking Database (RATS), annual summaries. 
Designs and implements individual and Occupational Therapy treatment groups using specific modalities to develop or restore performance skills necessary for functioning at optimum level for community re-entry. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Occupational Therapists.

Experience: One year of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
