Main Purpose of Job

An experience medical practice administration, this full time contractual position reports to the Public Health Preparedness & Response Division. This position will be responsible for managing the provision of quality medical care and allied health services, delivered by an interdisciplinary team in a collaborative manner, with an emphasis on health promotion and education. The Program Administrator IV will be accountable for the overall success of the multiple Medical Health Centers under their leadership. This position is also a key leader in establishing and growing multiple medical practices within the St Mary’s County Health Department, including School Based Health Centers, Primary Care Services, and Family Planning/STI Clinic. Strategic growth of these programs supports the mission of the St. Mary’s County Health Department in health education and promotion in the local community. In addition, this role promotes health equity among the underserved populations in the community, as identified by community health needs assessments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years of professional experience in practice administration and/or personnel management in a health care environment including at least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.

A master's degree will substitute for one year of general experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Proficiency in electronic practice and health record management systems.
  • Extensive experience in financial management.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
