POSITION DUTIES

Assists the Deputy Directors to supervises and provides daily oversight of the Central Commitment Records Center.

  • Establish overall policies and procedures for commitment operations.
  • Oversee their implementation and approve major revisions.
  • Establish overall program goals standards and controls to meet program objective and oversee their achievement.
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of Commitment Records Specialists Supervisors for the Central Commitment Records Center.
  • Oversee and manage personnel, equipment, supply resources and determine organizational structure and staffing needs.
  • Prescribe and oversee development and training of commitment staff.
  • Oversee and manage program modifications and enhancements to the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Service (DPSCS) offender database.
  • Represent the agency before state ,local officials, legislative committees, senior level mangers and executive of other agencies concerning program activities.
  • Perform other related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered.

One year of experience in calculating inmate terms of confinement, awarding diminution credits, and recalculating terms of confinement due to revocation of parole and mandatory supervision.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience in training and supervising the work of commitment records staff.

2. Experience approving inmate release for mandatory supervision or by expiration of sentence.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current employees of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Commitment Services Division only. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached.
