Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Police. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

POSITION DUTIES

This position assists with administrative support in the area of personnel management for the Natural Resources Police (NRP). The incumbent will assist with managing personnel processes for hiring, transfers, reclassifications, and promotions for NRP officers, civilians, and contractual employees. The position will also assist NRP personnel with issues regarding employee leave, timekeeping, and other payroll and Human Resource (HR) matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of general clerical or administrative support experience at least one year of which must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of public sector procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.

Notes:

1. One additional year of paraprofessional personnel experience as defined above may be substituted for one year of general clerical or administrative support experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience with the Injured Workers' Insurance Fund (IWIF), Accident Sick Leave (ASL), First Report of Injury (FROI), and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, Google software, and the Statewide Personnel System (SPS) Workday as it relates to personnel and HR duties.

Experience working in a law enforcement agency performing paraprofessional personnel work or administrative support duties.
