Various Alternative Schools throughout Central, Southern, Western, and Eastern Shore of Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position serving as Principal, responsible for supervising and providing leadership to professional teaching staff of the education program for residents of a juvenile facility.

POSITION DUTIES

Serves as the immediate supervisor of teachers and staff in a juvenile services facility; coordinates the activities of the school program with institutional officials; monitors special education services; maintains educational records; counsel’s students; supports the work of the local school improvement team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision or Master's Degree with 18 graduate credits in School Administration and Supervision and in possession or eligible for a Maryland Administrator II or Principal Certificate.

Experience: Experience providing classroom instruction to students.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of satisfactory teaching experience.
 
Principal experience 

Previous alternative / urban / Juvenile services education experience

Valid Maryland State Administrator II or Principal Certification

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and travel throughout the state are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.
