Western Maryland Hospital Center is a thriving specialized healthcare center delivering medical and rehabilitative services to clinically complex individuals. Western Maryland Hospital Center (WMHC) has multiple programs within our facility that provide various services in a geriatric setting.

We are excited to offer a new 36-hour schedule option for Registered Nurses.

Main Purpose of Job

This Registered Nurse MDH 36 position is a newly created scheduling trial  that allows certain RN positions to three 12 hour shifts per work week, while still receiving pay for a standard 40 hours workweek.  This position also offers full time benefits, such as a leave time, pension and health benefits.  More details will be provided at the time of interview. 

This Registered Nurse position provides direct nursing care to patients/residents, and works in collaboration and coordination with physicians, healthcare team members, and families to provide safe, effective, efficient, and quality care. This position is responsible for assessing patient/resident health problems and needs, developing and implementing care plans, evaluating progress toward attainment of goals/outcomes, educating patient/resident/family on illness and condition, and providing emotional support to patients/residents/families.  Nursing provide care in the following programs:

High Intensity Medical Program (HIMP)

Provides intensive medical care and rehabilitation to medically complex patients requiring frequent physician intervention and rehabilitation services. A healing environment utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to care and services. WMHC's vent weaning program is one of the only of its kind in the Western Maryland region. The program is budgeted for 12 beds.

Comprehensive Care Program

Provides skilled nursing services, rehabilitation, and ventilator management to community residents requiring services, including those under 50 years old and those without any means of payment. This program cares for ventilator dependent and complex medical patients as well as traditional Skilled Nursing Facility with ambulatory residents. This program is budgeted for 36 beds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence. A copy of your license or license number must accompany your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

3. Employees in this classification will be subject to certain attendance standards in order to be accepted into and remain in the classification and associated 36 hour workweek program.
