Main Purpose of Job

This position directs the claiming, draw down, distribution and reconciliation of Title XIX (Medicaid) and Title XXI (MCHIP) federal funds for the State of Maryland. In 2011 the total funds managed equaled $4.6 billion, distributed over 7 administrations within MDH and 6 agencies outside MDH.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing. In addition, six years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) with three years of advanced duties in the area of cost accounting, systems accounting, or federal fund accounting and including three years at a supervisory or management level.  

Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the non-supervisory/management experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates will possess experience in federal claiming.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
