Introduction

The Uninsured Employers’ Fund was established in order to ensure that injured employees would be able to recover for work-related injuries even if the employer was non-compliant with Maryland law.

POSITION DUTIES

This position reconciles and updates corresponding special and daily reports, compiles data for fiscal and upper management's use for monthly analysis; reconciles agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems; develops, updates and implements automated spreadsheets and ledgers to complete audit reports; reviews and researches Federal, State and local reports concentrating on developing solutions for problematic cases where funds have not been released or distributed in accordance with Federally mandated programs that apply to the State; effectively communicates by telephone, in writing and/or in person with supervisors and other personnel in other local departments to meet the Agency's objectives; and provides customer service to both internal and external customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience using an accounting system database.
2. Experience in utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and/or PowerPoint). 
3. General workers' compensation experience.
