LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH/Carroll County Health Department, Accounts Payable Division, Westminster, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for reconciling the Carroll County Health Department's Agency Accounting systems, as well as the Accounting databases and other program-specific web-based billing and accounting programs to fiscal control systems. This position will also update existing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Access databases as budget supplements and amendments are identified.

Additionally, this position will provide training and support to Reception Office Clerks, regarding Patient Intake fiscal procedures. Finally, this position will create and update associated forms, reports and spreadsheets for use by Fiscal Accounts Clerks and Reception Office Clerks. This position will serve as the department's Revenue Cycle Specialist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting, and balancing financial transactions.

Notes:

1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted, on a year-for-year basis, for the required high school education.

2. Six credit hours in Accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work, at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience with medical billing and accounts receivable, as well as experience with medical terminology and coding. He/she should also have experience updating policies and procedures regarding patient intake for the Reproductive Health Clinics, as well as for the Adult and Child Immunization Clinics.
