Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
This position will be responsible to maintain the monthly Accounts Receivable Google Worksheet used by the Agency to track all open and aged accounts receivable billings and invoices. To accurately input payments received on the established ledger sheet(s). Including the invoice numbers, amount billed and the customer's name. The incumbent will scan all original billing(s) and invoice(s) and save the documents in the Finance Shared drive before mailing the original copies to our customers for payment.
The incumbent will be responsible for retrieving the Finance mail from the mail room twice daily. The incumbent will open, sort, data stamp and distribute daily mail to Payroll, General Accounting and Accounts Payable units.
The position is also responsible to record incoming checks on the daily log along with creating a deposit ticket for the day's bank run.
Assist and/or act as a back-up to other personnel to enter deposits (MSP Form 208) received from the various barracks into FMIS. Gather relevant Escorts and Accounts Receivable billings documents to prepare the monthly accounts receivable overtime billings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the unit Supervisor and Manager, Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Strategic Planning Command.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.
Notes:
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. A minimum of five courses or six months of accounting-related training in a vocational training program in subjects such as journalizing transactions, analyzing transactions into debits and credits, posting to a general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.
2) Experience working at the Federal, State, County or Local levels of government.

SELECTION PROCESS

EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants will be subject to an interview, background investigation, and polygraph examination.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employees and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
