Introduction

The Maryland Department of Health has several vacancies located within its Western Region.  Specifically, positions are located within the Potomac Center (Hagerstown), SETT/CIRP (Hagerstown), Thomas B. Finan Center (Cumberland), and Western Maryland Hospital Center (Hagerstown).  When completing your application, please select all locations in which you are willing to accept employment.

Potomac Center, Hagerstown, MD (Washington County) is one of two state residential centers overseen by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.  The Potomac Center is a State residential center that is responsible for providing needed services to people who have intellectual disabilities admitted to the facility while working to integrate into less restrictive settings in the community.

SETT/Court Involved Residential Program (CIRP), Hagerstown, MD (Washington County) provides evaluation and assessment services, as well as active treatment to people with intellectual disabilities and court involvement within a secure and safe environment.  In addition, direct case consultation and assistance is provided to both criminal justice and human services staff regarding people with intellectual disabilities involved with the criminal justice system.
  
Thomas B. Finan Center, Cumberland, MD (Allegany County) is a multi-purpose psychiatric facility operating 88 beds, is a primary inpatient component of the Maryland Department of Health serving the citizens of Maryland.  Specialized evaluation and treatment services are available for adult and geriatric psychiatric patients.

Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown, MD (Washington County) is a specialized health care center delivering compassionate rehabilitation to clinically complex individuals in a therapeutic environment.  
Allegany County Health Department, Cumberland, MD (Allegany County) runs a 24/7 inpatient addiction treatment unit (Joseph S. Massey Unit) and has a Behavioral Health Unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. 3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation. The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work. Clearly indicate your college degree and major on your application, if applicable. For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
