LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Rd Lanham, MD 20706.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop. 

Free parking is available to the Department's employees on site at the present time; however, please be advised that this is subject to change.  The Department is also accessible by MARC, WMATA, and other public transportation options.

POSITION DUTIES

The Division of Finance and Administration is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic person to join their team:
 
Property and Compliance Officer 

This position will serve as the DHCD liaison for the Department of General Services with regard to all issues concerning State personal property and capital inventory. Employee will confer with DGS Inventory Standards and Support Services Division administrative officials, program heads, staff specialists and others via email and telephone to ensure State inventory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained appropriately. Also, this position will provide support of compliance, analytical, operational, and administrative support to employees in the Department for the Corporate Purchasing Card Program. The position will also support the General Accounting Unit in performing data control and ad hoc projects  

This position will be responsible for managing the DHCD inventory program. This involves independently maintaining the agency’s computerized inventory system and monitoring all equipment (capital and sensitive) to ensure it is tagged and recorded in the system. Employees will independently plan, organize and direct the physical inventory activities and train agency inventory Accountable Officers. This position will also provide operational and compliance support for the department Corporate Purchasing Card Program. This position reports to the Director of Governmental Accounting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. One year of inventory management of fixed assets  
2. One year of experience using Financial Management Information Systems
3. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
4. Experience processing corporate purchasing cards

Must be a current employee of MD Department of Housing and Community Development.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the positions.
