LOCATION OF POSITION
POSITION DUTIES
- This position provides day-to-day program administration for the various state financial aid grant and scholarship programs.
- Monitors fulfillment of service obligations in accordance with state law, Commission policies and guidelines by sending out requests for information, employment verification forms and repayment schedules and refers recipients not meeting service obligation to agency accounting office or the Central Collection Unit.
- Analyzes and processes a variety of documents related to determining program eligibility. This may include such documents as applications, enrollment certification, high school transcripts, and other supporting documentation. Analysis and processing must be in compliance with State law and Commission policies.
- Responsible for fielding calls and responding to e-mails from student, parents, and post-secondary institutions as they relate to more than 27 state-funded student financial aid programs. These programs are created by legislation and assigned to the Maryland Higher Education Commission/Office of Student Financial Assistance for administration and regulation.
- Maintains on-line student records, reviews award calculations and processes award letters ensuring the award is posted to the correct institution.
- Respond to a high-volume and fast-paced operational setting that requires attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Desired Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will possess an associate’s degree or higher credential from an accredited college or university.
- Have experience working in a customer service/call center, fast-paced, results driven, operational environment.
- Applicants should possess financial aid experience, excellent customer service skills, and experience managing projects with deadlines, and working collaboratively as part of a team.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.
