Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Resource Assessment Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401 (Anne Arundel County)

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to Resource Assessment Service, Monitoring and Non-tidal Assessment (MANTA). This position provides procurement transactions, reviews proposals for federal and non-federal grant applications; reconciles grant expenditures to grant budgets, corporate card statement reconciliation, prepares long term/seasonal contracts, submits invoices for payment, registers staff for meetings and seminars and generates and tracks R/V Kerhin billings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Candidates not using the education substitution noted above, must have one year of experience creating and preparing invoices, preparing personnel/services contracts, and credit card reconciliation.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience with procurement related transactions.
2. Experience with Maryland's Financial Management Information System (FMIS).
3. Experience working with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
4. Experience with monitoring and tracking grant agreements (e.g., federal, state, non-profit and county).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
