Main Purpose of Job

This position will function independently and in concert with others in providing requisite services to and on behalf of individuals. The position must discharge professional responsibilities in accordance with expertise, ethical considerations, and applicable regulatory standards or requirements. The position is physically located on home to facilitate acquiring an intimate feel for and appreciation of individual needs and behaviors, and to better assess the degree or depth of familial involvement. The position will serve on individuals' inter-disciplinary teams; is primary familial contact; assesses individuals' needs and explores possible responses thereto; and writes updated social summaries in accordance with Center policies and professional practices. This position exercises individual discretion and professional judgment to fulfill assigned responsibilities in a competent, efficacious and professional manner. The position will function as advocate on behalf of individuals and actively supports an integrated and holistic approach to the totality of individuals' needs & their pursuit of outcomes. Finally, the position must at all times ensure duties and responsibilities are faithfully discharged according to dictates of ICF/MR; Office of Health Care Quality; CMS; Title XIX; Center policies and procedures and professional standards commensurate with license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (on or by June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker(on or after July 1, 2018) Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit.

2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees are required to meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the hiring department. Employees who fail to obtain the required continuing education credits shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension and dismissal.

For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
