Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position is to develop, implement, supervise and coordinate the addictions intensive outpatient and jail based services. This position will provide individual group and family counseling/therapy to clients of the Wicomico County Behavioral Health Program - Addictions Unit. This positions purpose is to provide clinical supervision to employees that have CAC, CSC or trainee status certifications. This position will assist and collaborate with the program director on issues concerning administrative and clinical oversight of the program. This position will review policies and procedures as well as case material to assure compliance with standards set forth by licensing and accreditation bodies. This position is designated emergency essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors. 

Experience: Three years of experience providing counseling to clients with substance use disorders by using assessment, evaluation, intervention, treatment and rehabilitation. 

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Drug and Alcohol Counseling or Health Care Administration classifications or Mental/Behavioral Health and Drug and Alcohol Counseling or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate should possess the following:

  • Must be eligible to have approval from the Board of Professional Counselor to supervise substance abuse counselors.
  • Some supervisor experience preferred but not required

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
