This recruitment will be used to fill six week, Part Time, Temporary Emergency positions beginning mid September.  Qualified applicants will need to consent to a background check before beginning. Hours and work schedules may vary at the discretion of the State Board of Elections as needed.

Main Purpose of Job

The Election Program Assistant I performs specialized data entry and clerical work, processes and maintains voter records, applies election laws, rules and procedures to work problems and works with Election Information Systems Specialist on voting equipment preparation and needs. This position works directly under the supervision of the Election Program Assistant II to ensure the registration, vote by mail and provisional department are successful in meeting all department goals and objectives. Candidates will also be required to review hand-written or typed data provided on a paper application or electronic application and transcribe it accurately into a database.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: 2 years of clerical experience or 30 college credits

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are required to be registered voters in the State of Maryland in accordance with the Election Law Article, Section 2-207(d), Annotated Code of Maryland.

2. Employees in this classification may not hold or be a candidate for any elective public or political party office or any other office created under the Constitution or laws of this State in accordance with the Election Law Article, Section 2-301(b).
