Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to provide high level
secretarial support to administrative staff, supervisory staff, and subordinate
staff including routine and specified complex secretarial services.
POSITION DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to provide high level
secretarial support to administrative staff, and supervisors.
Log daily petitions, Writs of Habeas Corpus or Applications
for Bail Reduction received from private attorneys, public defenders or the
Circuit Court.
Review petitions, statements of charges and contact
information with attorneys for accuracy.
Correspond with judges or their support staff by telephone
as well as other state agencies and private attorneys as it relates to the Bail
Review docket.
Query CJIS and JIS systems to retrieve information regarding
cases for scheduling purposes.
Prepare packets for Bail Review by compiling the docket from
petitions scheduled for that date.
Prepare notification letters for Bail Reviews that are faxed
or emailed to the attorney of record.
Prepare cover sheets that are attached to the Application
for Bail Reduction petitions.
Prepare, complete, and maintain the master log of Circuit
Court bail hearings which is used to document hearings, dispositions,
statistical data, and other pertinent information.
Compile monthly statistical reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school
equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three
years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be
substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science
or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate
of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the
required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military
service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications
or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the
Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required
experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience retrieving information from Criminal Justice
Information Services(CJIS) and Judicial Information Systems(JIS) systems.
2. Experience with court petitions, Writs of Habeas Corpus
or Applications for Bail Reduction.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a
personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending
on the specific requirements of the position.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be
considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide

candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED,
BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED, and remain eligible for consideration for at
least one year. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select
employees.
EXAMINATION PROCESS

training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be
required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on
your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this

an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance
abuse testing.
