Main Purpose of Job

A Food Service Supervisor I is flrst ltne supervisoni work in food service operations at the Lower Eastern Shore Children's Center (LESCC). The main purpose of the Food Service Supervisor I position is to coordlnate and supervise the entlre LESCC kitchen operation including food receiving, storage, production, service and distribution of food in a timely manner. The Food Service Supervisor I is responsible for the production and serving of meals in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable health and sanitation regulations and standards. Employees in thls classification supervise staff engaged in food preparation and servlng.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional education in the area of food service management, nutritional care, institutional administration or a related area on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Food           Preparation and Serving classifications or Food Preparation and Serving specialty codes in the Food Service field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a Degree in nutritional care, institutional administrative or a related area.

The assessment will be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Please report all related experience and education.  Applicants who meet the Minimum Qualifications will be placed on the eligible list categorized as Qualified, Better Qualified, or Best Qualified.  Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a period of one year. This list will be sued by the DJS hiring agency to select employees. 

If you have completed education outside the US, you will need to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.
