Introduction

This is a Position Specific Recruitment for the Department of Human Services, Charles County Department of Social Services, which is located in Southern Maryland (65 miles south of Baltimore).

Main Purpose of Job

Prepares and distributes budget allocations specific to Family, Adults and Children's Services division's non-allocated funds (exclusive of special project and grant funds). Monitors financial transactions and contracts. Ensures that all special/program funds are effectively allocated to budget line items that are tracked and managed in-house; financial transactions and contracts are monitored and processed in a proficient and timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education:    A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  One year of experience in budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 semester hours of graduate education in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service  experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. One year of experience working with QuickBooks.

2. One year of experience reconciling multiple accounting systems.

3. One year of experience working with grants for a human services program.

4. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to accept employment in Charles County, which is located in Southern Maryland.  Charles County is around 65 miles south of Baltimore.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
