Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to serve as the Epidemiology Team Manager for the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control. This position provides direction and guidance on all epidemiology and program evaluation efforts to the Director and Deputy Director of the Center. S/he leads and oversees a wide range of strategic planning, surveillance, and evaluation activities related to statewide cancer prevention and control initiatives. This position oversees a team of nine staff, including supervision of four direct reports: Maryland Cancer Registry Program Manager, Surveillance and Evaluation Unit Program Manager, Senior Epidemiologist, and Database Specialist. [Note: Due to the nature of this work, the job requires proficiency in Statistical Analysis Software, SAS]


Qualified candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university and at least six years of professional experience in public health or health services, including at least three years of experience in epidemiology, statistics, and/or program evaluation. At least three years of this experience must have been at the managerial or supervisory level. Proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis Software) is preferred.  


This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A copy of your master's degree transcript and a resume must accompany your application.
