Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to, under close supervision, learn to evaluate, analyze, research and develop health care services, policies and programs and provide coordination of policy analysis for the Maryland Primary Care Program (MDPCP), which impacts the operations and payment of services throughout primary care in the state. The position will support the Program Management Office (PMO) in implementing the MDPCP through daily research, coordination, writing, analysis, and other activities as assigned. This position is within the Program Management Office which reports to the Office of the Secretary.    

Key duties of the position include:

  • Researching and analyzing health care data to support the Primary Care Program.
  • Preparing reports summarizing health care data and the results of meetings.
  • Developing recommendations for PMO leadership regarding health care policies.
  • Analyzing data for the program including financials and provider data and develop recommendations regarding subsequent activities.
  • Reviewing primary care literature and recommend opportunities to improve program operations.
  • Planning, coordinating and staffing meetings.
  • Drafting memos, FAQs, presentations, fact sheets, webinar slides, and other materials.
  • Updating the Program web page.
  • Assisting with program marketing.
  • Assisting leadership with planning and strategy.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applications will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.

A Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public policy or closely related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume and cover letter must accompany your application.
