Main Purpose of Job

To design, develop, test, and implement new computer applications or maintenance of existing applications to include mission critical systems for Corrections, Law Enforcement, Identification and Parole and Probation and other systems that maintain and provide data and information to DPSCS, criminal justice entities and the public.

POSITION DUTIES

Performs programming in the maintenance and enhancement of existing .NET computer applications as assigned and in accordance with schedule. Performs analysis and corrective programming to resolve .NET application problems. Adheres to Change Management policies for all work product documentation.

Performs analysis and programming in the development new .NET computer applications as assigned and in accordance with schedule. Adheres to Change Management policies for all work product documentation.  

Maintains communications with IT Management. Complete periodic progress reports for all assigned projects.  

Attends IT and customer related workshops, seminars, conferences and training classes to keep abreast of emerging IT technologies, trends and best business practices.  

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience  

4 Years .NET programming experience as senior developer, responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance web applications; experience in state government is preferred.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of current software development best practices and technologies and how they can be applied to create high quality, high-performing applications
  • Highly skilled in designing, coding and supporting medium to large applications using C#.Net, ASP.Net, and SQL Server or Oracle databases
  • Ability to develop high quality form-style web applications using the .Net framework and JavaScript
  • Ability to provide strong, senior level database and SQL technical expertise working in a team environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Adept in defining technical design and implementing code solutions
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and work on multiple simultaneous assignments
  • Ability to work with other IT staff to recommend standards, guidelines, and new processes
  • Strong communications skills to express ideas, thoughts, and direction to variety of audiences
  • Must be available some nights and weekends for supporting code deployments and application support
  • Previous experience in Crystal Reports or other reports development is preferred but not required
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) or Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) in Microsoft .Net is preferred but not required
