Main Purpose of Job

The office of the State Prosecutor is recruiting for a fulltime Assistant State Prosecutor. This position will be responsible for the investigation of and prosecution of public corruption, multiple jurisdictional offenses with a major focus on election law cases.

POSITION DUTIES

Assist the State Prosecutor in investigating and prosecuting certain criminal offenses committed by public officials or employees.  These include violations of State election, public ethics, and conflict of interest laws; bribery laws involving public officials or employee; misconduct in office by public officials or employees; and extortion, perjury, or obstruction of justice related to any of these laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A Juris Doctorate or Equivalent degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.

Experience: Three years of prosecutorial and criminal jury trial experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must be in good standing with the Maryland State Bar Association.

Due to the confidential nature of the work, selected candidates must undergo and pass a background check.
