Introduction

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources invites students to apply for an internship with its Office of Communications. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in video production and photography while learning more about Maryland’s natural resources. The internship runs 12 weeks between June and August. The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.

The Office of Communications has a vital role in supporting the Department of Natural Resources as it preserves, protects, enhances and restores Maryland’s natural resources for the wise use and enjoyment of all citizens.

LOCATION OF POSITION

580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401 (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

This intern will work closely with the Director of Communications and the Agency Lead Photographer to fulfill the position duties described below.

POSITION DUTIES

Intern duties include:

  • Creating videos; and
  • Capturing images for various marketing needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.    

GPA of 2.5 or above (if student is seeking credit).

Strong camera, video editing and photo editing skills are required. (Video sample to be submitted with application.)

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred fields of study is Communication or related fields. 

Proficiency with Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Creative Suite.
