Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to direct and coordinate all Behavioral Health Programs for the Charles County Health Department, which includes the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and the Substance Use Clinic.  This position is responsible for:  Establishing and Evaluating proper treatment and administrative positions and procedures; Maintaining and enhancing the merger of the Mental Health and Substance Use divisions; Establishing and evaluating program goals, standards and controls, as well as directs services provided; and, Determining organizational structure and staffing needs of the Charles County Behavioral Health.  This position will also promote services offered by Behavioral Health and establishes contacts for referrals and medical services. 

The Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for the financial stability of the mental health and substance abuse programs.  This position will forecast collections and establish reasonable budgetary projects, while participating in the formulation, implementation and modification for short and long-range plans for program operations.  This position is also responsible for the administration of grants.  Night, evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a health or human services field and 6 years of professional health services experience, including 3 years of experience at the managerial or supervisory level and 2 years of professional experience in substance abuse or mental health.

A Master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of the professional health services experience.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
