Introduction

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Land Acquisition & Planning Unit. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for the overall administration of the Real Property Acquisition and Management Division of the Land Acquisition and Planning Unit. The Real Property Acquisition and Management Division includes real property fee simple and easement acquisitions funded through Program Open Space Stateside and the real property management function that includes maintaining all departmental land records, managing real property transactions and conveyances involving department lands including leases and the Resident Curatorship Program. The position relates directly to the mission of the agency by aiding the Department in its stewardship of Maryland's natural resources, assisting in providing an integrated and self-sustaining network of public lands and open space, and providing efficient and effective operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.  

Experience: Eight years of experience in land planning, acquisition or real property management.  

Notes:       

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above for the required education at a rate of one year of experience to one year of education for up to four years of the required education.    

2. Candidates may substitute graduate education for the required general experience at the rate of one year of education to one year of experience, for up to two years of the required general experience.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Two years of experience supervising employees in land planning, acquisition or real property management is required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience negotiating the acquisition, disposal, development, management or leasing of real property

Experience related to real property issues including two or more of the following: managing land records, plotting and analyzing land record information, conducting and managing property surveys in the field, mapping real property with computer based imagery and GPS or assisting with the recovery of boundary lines

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification will be assigned duties that require the routine and consistent operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess and maintain a driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.
