Main Purpose of Job

This is a senior management position, responsible for the administration of program operations for a Bureau within the Child, Adult and Family Services Division. This position carries responsibility for the organizational efficiency and administrative operations of the Bureau. The incumbent in this position is also responsible for planning and development functions to ensure that services are provided within the Bureau in the most effective and efficient manner.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages and leads a continuum of child and family welfare programs with the Child and Family Services Division to ensure that high quality services are delivered to customers.

In the absence of the Director and as delegated by the Director: makes independent decisions affecting program operations, public relations and the health, well-being and safety issues for children and vulnerable adults in the care and custody or the agency and at-risk of harm, including authorization to sign medical consent documents.

Manages employee performance to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services and to develop employees to meet individual, team and organizational goals.

Manages financial resources and budgets (including identifying funding requirements, advocating for appropriate funding levels, allocating funds appropriately, reconciling income expenditures) in order to ensure that programs and budgets are fiscally sound.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related Human Service field from an accredited college or university.  

Experience: Five (5) years working in a large state, county, federal government or non profit / profit sector organizations that support at risk or vulnerable children and/or families.  Three (3) years of this experience must have been in a supervisory and administrative capacity.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW ) or Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) strongly preferred but not required.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Candidates must be willing to accept employment in Prince George's County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employee in this classification may be assigned duties which requires the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who have not already done so must complete an approved training program and pass a competency test. Employees are required to meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the Department of Human Services.
