Introduction

This is a Management Service position for a Program Manager I, Maryland State Police, Central Records Division and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

This position manages and leads the daily operation of the Maryland State Police, Central Records Division, Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR) and Incident Reporting Section. It is responsible for coordinating all entities' responses to ensure the functionality and two-way communication of UCR technology and systems. The position also supervises for completeness, propriety and accuracy all statistical reports released by the Incident Reporting Section to include scheduled and ad hoc reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Four years of managerial experience, two years of which must have involved data collection efforts to include extrapolation and analysis.

NOTE:  Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Familiar with National and Maryland Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) guidelines

2.  Experience working at the managerial level of  federal, state, county and/or local levels of government developing and implementing policy

3.  Experience training individuals

4.  Supervisory experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this position will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made.  A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
