Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Deputy Director, Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), Maryland State Police (MSP) and is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the State's and Department's policies and procedures as they relate to vehicle acquisition, maintenance and disposal programs. The position revises and maintains the MSP fleet sustainability and replenishment master plan, supervises vehicle maintenance supervisors and assumes full responsibility for MSP fleet management in the absence of the MVD Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience:  Four years of professional experience to include motor vehicle fleet management, maintenance, and/or procurement

NOTE:  Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Experience in the review of vehicle crashes to determine fault / prevention

2.  Experience in the management / supervision of personnel

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this position will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made.  A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
