Main Purpose of Job

This position supervises the Maryland Lottery Gaming and Control Agency’s (MLGCA) subscription program and is responsible for processing, recording, balancing and preparing the daily deposits associated with subscriptions for specific lottery games. The position will also be responsible for supervising and evaluating the work of Fiscal Account Clerk Technicians.

POSITION DUTIES

The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise, prepare, and reconcile the deposit for subscriptions on a daily basis;
  • Promptly delete subscriptions for checks that were returned from the bank due to insufficient funds, closed accounts, or checks not in good order;
  • Gather supporting documentation from customers to request a duplicate check for lost or stale dated checks;
  • Assist with opening the daily mail and activating subscription applications on an as needed basis;
  • Review all checks received from subscribers for accuracy before being activated;
  • Supervise and manage a staff of subordinate employees to include providing daily direction and training as needed, ensuring appropriate coverage through leave approval, conducting employee evaluations, and initiating corrective action when warranted;
  • Provide support as needed with processing claims for customers who respond to the agency's Customer Resource Center; and
  • Provide unit support to assist customers over the phone or vial email. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Notes:

1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of experience in a customer service environment 
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
