Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job serves to fulfill the cyber-security audit support of critical information systems for the Department of Human Services (DHS) in the State of Maryland. This position also is responsible for assuring cyber-security hardware and software compatibility for DHS and Annapolis Data Center (ADC) systems when upgrading system software and IOS. This position is part of a team that serves as a critical component for Disaster Recovery of the ADC and DHS systems. 

POSITION DUTIES

This position provides customer service to both internal and external customers that meet or exceed the standards set by the Department; directs the analysis and problem solving efforts for Cyber-Security audits findings affecting Production systems: this includes Production Support, Systems Developments efforts, and direction of interdepartmental teams as required; interfaces with DHS program staff and other OTHS Units and Contractors as well as Federal and other State agencies for systems related issues; provides Strategic reviews of new and existing Cyber-Security hardware and software requirements or release versions; reviews and studies release packages to ensure it meets current Cyber-Security system software requirements, based on the setup of the Data Centers (Hosting Contractor, Cloud and ADC); builds and maintains appropriate Policies, Plans and Procedures documentation following NIST guidelines to satisfy Federal and State Agency audits; manages and maintains cyber-security access to systems and entitlement reviews; and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology.

 

EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.

 

NOTES:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology may be substituted for the required education.

 2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software may be substituted for the required education.

 3. Experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output to process data on computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school education on a year- for-year basis.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following.

1. Two years experience in Cyber Security.

2. Two years of work experience in a technical field.

3. Project Management experience.

4. Business Analyst experience.

5. Certification in Security + or CISSP.

6. Application development experience.

7. Good working capability of all MS Office and/or Google Suite products.

8. Experience with Visio and MS Project.
