Main Purpose of Job

A Medical Care Program Associate Supervisor is the supervisory level of work in a Medical Assistance Program in the Department of Heath. The main purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of the Medical Care Program Associates in the Presumptive Eligibility unit. This position assists the Medical Care Program Associates in administering Presumptive Eligibility in the implementation and performance of it's responsibility using independent judgment to accomplish program objectives and to coordinate all processing and operational functions necessary for the enrollment of Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility through the eMedicaid System.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Four years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program to include two years applying, interpreting and processing program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a medical care program.

NOTES:

1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge and demonstrated application of Medical Assistance policies, regulations, and guidelines and requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment directly related to Medical Assistance Program data and situations.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
