MDH Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Catonsville MD 21228

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for directing and managing the activities of the Security and Communications Department. This position will plan, organize and supervise the work of assigned employees and will be responsible for conducting staff training for the entire Spring Grove Hospital Center (SGHC). Some additional duties assigned to the position include, but are not limited to:

  • reviewing and assisting in the development of departmental policies and programs
  • ensuring that the Emergency Management Plan is updated annually
  • assisting the Chief Operating Officer (COO) during the SGHC Hospital Incident Command System when activated
  • auditing the timeliness of customer service satisfaction of work orders regarding Environment of Care, Fire Safety, Environmental Services, Grounds/Transportation, Maintenance, Security and Communications in a detailed report to the COO each month
  • working closely with the Director of Environment of Care to ensure regulatory compliance
  • representing the department in a liaison capacity and serving as active member on various committees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience planning, organizing and supervising the work of subordinates as well as experience with word processing, creating/editing spreadsheets and utilizing database software. Also, the desired candidate should have experience writing and compiling reports.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
