Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing statistics and program information related to the Maryland Department of State Police Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program and for producing the Annual Maryland Department of State Police EEO Report. The position provides training and technical assistance to MSP employees. It is also responsible for the intake of internal complaints ensuring that all forms and documentation are received for processing. This position coordinates special projects and provides administrative support to the Office of Fair Practices staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Experience tracking and maintaining confidential information

2.  Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, requisitions

3.  Experience educating or explaining applicable laws, policies or regulations to a governmental (federal, state, local) agency workforce

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This is an internal recruitment, restricted to current Maryland State Police full-time, permanent and contractual employees and employees working with the state by contract.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will be required to successfully complete a background investigation to include a polygraph examination before a permanent appointment can be made.  A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection for this process will involve a review of each application.  Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list in the BEST, BETTER or QUALIFIED category.  The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy.  The list will be valid for one year.
