Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to ensure that the entire facility and its contents are in peak workable order. This position regulates a complete and cost-conscious preventive maintenance program. This position will perform electrical, plumbing, building systems and safety, painting and preventative maintenance and environmental control responsibilities.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Three years experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including two years of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have the following:

Knowledge and ability to program complex computer programs to control the operation of gas/oil fired boiler systems, body refrigerators, freezers, automatic doors, and large overhead garage doors.

A journeyman’s knowledge and understanding of the Principles of Plumbing, both interior and exterior residential and commercial applications. 

The ability to perform a full range of journeyman-level duties associated with the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair and troubleshooting of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures and controls. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
