Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to reduce relapse and recidivism among citizens living with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders (CODs) and help them develop skills to build meaningful, purposeful lives in the community. This position will use assertive outreach strategies to develop and strengthen system's linkages to enhance and expand access to a recovery-oriented continuum of care, and coordinate with agencies to transition participants to a fully intergrated, treatment and Recovery Support Services necessary to lay the groundwork for change, sustained recovery, and facilitate meaningful participation in the community. This position will help clients make better decisions and to function in the community that they live in, through the coordination of wrap-around recovery services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Note: 1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should be able to travel early mornings and late evenings throughout the state of Maryland transporting clients to various locations.  The preferred candidate should also have the ability to work with clients with addiction and mental health diagnosis.
