Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as a Community Projects Coordinator and will coordinate programs in the Maryland Department of Health's Deer's Head Hospital Center by conducting studies and implementing assigned program activities in the areas of mental health, developmental disabilities, addiction and health services. This position will plan, coordinate and supervise a comprehensive Community Projects Program which is designed to enhance the lives of patients and residents and support the hospital's mission and vision. This position will prepare reports, flyers, letters, and other correspondence; arrange programming and scheduling of social, recreational, religious events; distribute donated supplies and contributions; and, promote customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Notes: 1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired applicant should have experience with wellness and outreach.  For example, conducting surveys to identify opportunities for program development; identifying community outreach opportunities such as fairs, festivals, local markets; implementing and managing health education strategies.
