Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of the Employee Wellness and Engagement Coordinator is to oversee the strategic implementation and continuous improvement of the Baltimore City Department of Social Services' Employee Engagement and Wellness Program. This position performs a variety of both routine and complex tasks to plan, develop and monitor agency wide wellbeing initiatives and assists in the development of programs that create awareness, motivation and provides tools to employees that help them adapt and maintain a well rounded healthy lifestyle. This position will be responsible for integrating engagement and wellness concepts into existing and future initiatives and will work with agency management, partners, and staff to execute initiatives and effectively communicate their availability and outcomes.

POSITION DUTIES

Establishing the budget, initiating contracts, setting goals, managing schedules, reporting on key milestones for large and small scale projects, and identifying and metrics to ensure the projects and programs stay on schedule and within. Create, implement and assess a comprehensive and sustainable 'whole employee' strategy that leverages engagement initiatives, wellness programing, and development opportunities. Integrate and maintain wellness 'brand' into current and future agency initiatives. Leads the development of strategies, and implementation of programs by the wellness committee and develops timelines, milestones, communications, key success factors and metrics to identify expected outcomes and success. Designs and oversees the implementation of systems to measure and evaluate program performance and operational effectiveness. This includes establishing outcomes measures, building data collection and analysis tools producing summary performance reports and identifying areas for program improvement. Manage and facilitate initiatives that arise from Employee Viewpoint Survey (EVS), particularly those that impact the employee experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

If using experience to meet the requirements, the applicant must have one year of experience coordinating and overseeing an employee wellness program.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

1. One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Google Docs.

2. One year of experience explaining information to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

3. One year of experience working with different vendors to initiate contracts and availability of services.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
