Main Purpose of Job

The Administrator I position is a mixed-duties position and will provide confidential investigative services and programs to the Department as well as perform safety and security evaluations and provide technical assistance and training.

POSITION DUTIES

The Administrator I primary investigative functions are to conduct inquiries related to allegations of administrative and/or criminal violations against employees and service providers; collusion, corruption; misappropriation of Department assets; mismanagement, fraud, waste, and abuse of authority with State-operated facilities and those operated by private vendors under contract to the State.The Administrator I reviews all video for DJS operated facilities on a daily basis and provides technical assistance and makes recommendations for corrective action and quality improvement in program and standards development and implementation, monitoring, evaluation, management analysis, policy formulation, audits and inspections to OIG Quality Assurance, Audit Unit and Deputy Secretary of Operations, Departmental Support and Executive Director for Community Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the required experience must be in administrative or criminal investigations (if not using the education substitution).

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in law enforcement conducting criminal investigations.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current Maryland Department of Juvenile Services Employees.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

If you have completed education outside the US, you will need to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.
