Introduction

The Educational Support Services of Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, a State agency, has a position available for an Administrator I.

This is a full time position, that serves as the editorial and publications manager of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).

Main Purpose of Job

The primary purpose of this position is responsibility for the development and management of editorial policies and publications for MIEMSS. The position is also responsible for the interpretation and dissemination of MIEMSS information and educational materials to the public and EMS professionals through written and oral communication.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage the Maryland EMS NEws (newsletter), distributed to 27000 EMS providers. Generate articles, determine production schedules; conduct interviews; research, type, edit proofread articles; work with photographers and graphic designers to enhance communication of the content of articles.

Research, write, edit, and proofread special projects. Examples include but are not limited to MIEMSS Policies and Procedures; MIEMSS EMS Protocols for EMS Providers manual; SWOT final reports; scripts to train EMS providers or educate the public; testimony for legislation; educational materials for prehospital providers; news releases; background material for media, EMS professional, and general public; written and oral materials for awards, ceremonies, Statewide educational conferences, and other special evens; materials for the MIEMSS website.

Manage the MIEMSS Annual Report. Determine content; generate letters for reports; research write, type, edit, re-write, proofread reports; work with photographers and graphic artists to enhance communication of content; update distribution lists.

Maintain MIEMSS Social Media aspects to include Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Maintain archives of MIEMSS printed and electronic media materials; research material in response to requests and disseminate material.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of professional experience using social media platforms to design, implement, and manage communications and marketing materials (if you are not using the Education substitution).

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience with Google Mail Services, Microsoft Office (including Access, Excel, and Word)
