Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to research and analyze existing federal, state and local sources to identify policies linked to MHHD’s priorities. This position will provide technical assistance to MHHD stakeholders and partners regarding policy review, analysis and formulation. This position will identify and extract data from National, State and Local Health statistics reports and use this data to prepare charts and tables appropriate for inclusion in Maryland health disparities presentations and reports. This position will use statistical software to perform basic analysis of the publicly available Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, and other data sets that may become available to the project. This position will assist the program Epidemiologist and MHHD Director/Deputy in the preparation of presentations regarding health disparities to various groups within the state, including the Maryland General Assembly. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.

Note: A Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience developing statewide and local community contracts, presenting comprehensive presentations on health equity and policy to constituent groups and connecting constituent concerns related to health equity, to present and proposed legislation.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
