Main Purpose of Job

The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating agency operations for the policy and training initiatives. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, administering the interpretation and application of agency policies, directives and procedures designed to accomplish the mission of the agency. Employee functions as special assistant to departmental executives responsible for project research, design, development, maintenance, review, evaluation and coordination. Evaluates efficiency of operations and develops, revises and recommends new policies, standards, and workflow procedures. Implements new regulations, policies as directed by upper management. Promotes the work of the agency through frequent contacts with community resources and agencies to collaborate and develop partnerships to serve Harford County DSS customers. The Coordinator may develop and carry out a personal action plan to delineate a path to reach self sufficiency. The coordinator will also coordinate outreach activities and participate in activities to inform the community of the FIA services offered by HCDSS.

POSITION DUTIES

The Coordinator assists participants in setting goals. Makes referrals to appropriate agencies for resources and services needed. Establishes individual or group meetings to assist the participants in obtaining access to other programs within the county to reach goals. Develops and delivers training programs for internal and external customers. The Coordinator will plan and organize monthly workshops of topics that are of interest to internal and external customers. The Coordinator will participate in outreach events to promote HCDSS FIA services and collect applications at these events. The Coordinator will research and apply for grants to assist customers in meeting their goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

Notes: 

1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications and Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience in a Family Investment Program.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

One year of experience as a team lead or supervisor.

One year of experience in developing and delivering training.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
