Wicomico County Department of Social Services is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, approximately 115 miles east of the Baltimore–Washington area, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Main Purpose of Job

Provides administrative support to FIA Asst. Dir., supervisors and entire division to include typing, answering multi-line telephone, maintaining logs and other duties as assigned. Acts as scheduling coordinator of Long Term Care, The Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program (QMB), and Service Access and Information Link (SAIL) applications in order to facilitate customer eligibility/redetermination. Acts as triage data entry support person facilitating customer eligibility. Creates and maintains weekly and month intake application logs to determine volume of applicants. Direct point of contact for customers.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides administrative support services to the FIA Asst. Dir., supervisors and entire division to include: answers multi-line phone, assists with customer issues at front desk and on phone, creates and maintains Excel spreadsheets to assist supervisors with gathering pertinent information, scans customer documents and routes to appropriate worker, processes and assigns all online applications, initiates, narrates and scans Face-to-Face redeterminations. Responsible for all Long Term Care and QMB applications. Ensures all information and materials from customers are delivered to workers in timely manner. Performs as Security Monitor for unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience in providing customer service to external/internal customers.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred

qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications.  The ideal candidate will possess the following:

1. One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google suite.

2. One year of experience performing data entry duties.

3. One year of experience drafting correspondence and reports.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to candidates willing to work in Salisbury, Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire. The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
