MDH/Charles County Department of Health, Local Behavioral Health Authority, White Plains, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be performed at a full performance level and will carry out case coordination, as well as administrative activities, in order to support individuals and families with accessing appropriate levels of care. This position will be responsible for multiple duties, including organizing care coordination for consumers in the Public Behavioral Health System (PBHS); offering linkage to services; providing approval/screening for appropriateness of the requested level of care in the PBHS; crisis management, and homelessness prevention.

This position will also be responsible for the monitoring, planning and administration of community-based programs in the PBHS, while serving individuals with mental health and/or substance use problems, as well as their families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience: Three years of professional experience in health services, two of which must have been in the option for which the application is made.

Notes: 1. Applicants may substitute a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. Experience in the option must be as follows: professional work related to treatment and services for mentally ill patients.

3. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field, plus one additional year of professional experience in health services, may be substituted for the specific degree.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

The desired candidate should have experience working with individuals who receive services in the Public Behavioral Health System, as well as experience with implementing programs. 

The desired candidate should also be knowledgeable of the roles and responsibilities of the Local Behavioral Health Authority.
